Sumiyoshi Shrine, a place rich in cultural traditions and history

#Fukuoka Attractions The historic "Sumiyoshi Shrine" is only ten minutes away from Hakata Station. It is a city attraction that can be visited leisurely and easily reached by car. The shrine grounds are surrounded by lush greenery. Walk into the dense forest paths within the grounds and admire the landscaping and atmosphere of the Japanese garden. It was the first time I stepped into Sumiyoshi Shrine that I realized there was such a place rich in cultural traditions and history in the center of Fukuoka. Since Hakata Sumiyoshi Shrine was formerly located at the mouth of the Naka River facing Hakata Bay, it was revered as a shrine for the protection of navigation during the ancient Yamato regime.
