George Town, Penang

George Town is a city in Penang, Malaysia, our neighboring country. As all of our travel friends are from Songkhla, we flew from Bangkok to Hat Yai. We met up with our friends and traveled together at the Padang Besar border checkpoint on the Malaysian side. We took the 7.30 a.m. train from Hat Yai Railway Station to Padang Besar. We got off the train, walked through the Thai and Malaysian immigration, and walked to buy a train ticket to Butterworth. The train departed at 10.30 a.m. Malaysian time, and took a ferry to George Town. We arrived at 1.00 p.m. The total travel time was 2.30 hours. 📌Day 1 We stayed at the Loop on Leith George Town Penang Hotel, near Chulia Street-Restoran Kapitan, Indian and Malaysian food. - Gurney Plaza shopping mall to eat Llao Llao. Some clothes are cheaper than in Thailand, such as Uniqlo. - Gurney Drive is a roundabout. We can ride a bicycle to watch the sunset by the sea. 🌅-Kimberley Street We ate street food here. A short street with famous Penang restaurants should be visited. Open Google. Encountered 📌Day 2- Wake up early at 6.30, take the bus from the hotel cititel stop near the hotel to Penang Hill for about 30 minutes, buy a tram ticket and hurry to catch the real one in front of the train to take pictures of the beautiful Penang view. Go up to walk and take pictures in the park and have breakfast. ⛰️🌊🌳- We also walked from the Komtar building to eat Chendol from a famous shop on Lebuh Keng Kwee Road. It's delicious, refreshing in the hot weather. - Stopped by to eat ice cream at Hema Hema, very delicious, on Campbell Street. 🍦🫠- Walked to take pictures near Penang street art. In fact, there is street art along the way we walked, but this area has the most. My friend stopped by to buy some craft beer, there were a lot of them. Anyone interested, the shop's name is Momokaka. 🍺🚶‍♂️- Walked to Chew Jetty. We really like this place. The sky contrasts with the sea and the locals' boats are beautiful, as shown in the cover photo. ..🌞🛶- Continued walking to the famous cafe, Norm Micro Roastery, a must-order menu. We ordered from Faros who reviewed it very well. "Osmanthus Pear" is a refreshing pear juice. 💦🍐And here they play very good music. 🎶🎧- We walked to the last area, Little India, took a bus back to the hotel to rest. - We ate at Gurney Hawker Centre and bought souvenirs at Gurney Plaza. Buying in the supermarket, there will often be a discount promotion for souvenir shops. 📌 Day 3 - Tai Tong Restaurant is a dim sum restaurant in the morning. The crispy pork is very delicious. - Come to have coffee before going back at The Mugshot cafe. We returned around ~ 11.00 am. (Malaysia time) to catch the Butterworth-Padang Besar train at 12.35 pm. (Malaysia time). We took a taxi from Padang Besar train station to Padang Besar border checkpoint, land exit, and a kind person drove us to Sadao checkpoint on the Thai side. Then we went to Hat Yai Airport to fly back to Bangkok. 📋 Travel expenses ~ 350 baht, food ~ 1,500 baht, hotel ~ 590 baht, Penang Hill entrance fee ~ 250 baht, plane ticket ~1800 baht (round trip) We exchanged 3000 baht and got 369 RM left. Plan and go tomorrow. It's possible. #PenangTravel2023 #PenangTravelByYourself #georgetown #malaysia #Malaysia🇲🇾
