Museum of the Nanyue King

The Museum of the Nanyue King is an exhibition hall that you cannot miss when traveling to Guangzhou. It is close to Yuexiu Park and is divided into two exhibition areas: the king's tomb and the royal palace. It is a tomb of the Western Han Dynasty, an important site of the Nanyue Kingdom, and a large archaeological site museum. It is a national first-class museum. Due to time constraints, we only visited the King's Tomb exhibition area, which is the tomb of Zhao Tuo, the second king of Nanyue. It is the largest, best-preserved, and most abundantly decorated painted stone chamber tomb in the Lingnan region. The Nanyue Kingdom (203 BC - 111 BC) was a regime that existed in the Lingnan region during the late Qin Dynasty and early Han Dynasty. In 214 BC, after Qin Shihuang unified Lingnan, he set up three counties: Nanhai, Guilin and Xiang. He served as the prefect of a county under Zhao Tuo. At the end of the Qin Dynasty, the world was in chaos. In 203 BC, Zhao Tuo annexed Guilin and Xiangjun, established the Nanyue Kingdom, and proclaimed himself the King Wu of Nanyue. He was also the longest-lived king in history, living to the age of 103, so the second king was his grandson, Zhao Tuo, the owner of the Tomb of the King of Nanyue. Main exhibits: "Emperor Wen's Seal" Golden Seal with a Dragon Button: This is the earliest golden seal with a dragon button found in my country, with the four characters "Emperor Wen's Seal" engraved on the seal. The Silk-Thread Jade Suit is one of the earliest complete jade suits discovered in my country. Jade Horn Cup: A masterpiece of Han Dynasty jadeware, with a Kuilong winding from top to bottom on the cup body. Double-ring jade pendant with dragon and phoenix pattern: carved from bluish-white jade, the jade pendant is divided into two circles, the inner circle is carved with a swimming dragon, and the outer circle is carved with a phoenix. You can also visit the tomb directly, but it is closed during the Spring Festival.
