Guihu Lake·Guilin Two Rivers and Four Lakes.

On the second day of our trip to Guilin, we stayed near Guihu Lake. There are the famous two rivers and four lakes in Guilin city. The four lakes include Shanhu Lake, Ronghu Lake, Guihu Lake and Mulong Lake. Together with the Lijiang River, they surround the ancient city. They were the moats in ancient times, guarding the safety of Jingjiang Palace. Among the four lakes, Gui Lake has the largest area. The west and part of the north of the old royal city are all Gui Lake, and the small part in the north connected to the Li River is Mulong Lake. The hotel we stayed in was on the west bank of the northern part of Guihu Lake. We got up in the morning and walked north along the lakeside. There is a greenway along the lakeshore, which looks quite old. The large banyan trees on the shore are lush and green, adding a bit of tranquility. Guihu Lake narrows in front and the greenway turns east. There is an alley next to it called Lao Ren Shan Lane. It turns out that the big mountain by the lake is the Lao Ren Shan that we saw on Fubo Mountain yesterday. A peculiarly shaped double-arch bridge spans Gui Lake. We did not cross the bridge for the time being, but continued northward along the west bank of the lake to the end of the north end of Gui Lake. There is a narrow river channel in front, which is connected to Taohua River. I don’t know what it is called. Taohua River is the other of the two rivers, and it merges into the Li River at Xiangshan. I saw many old men and women swimming in Guihu Lake. The weather during the Mid-Autumn Festival was already a bit cold, and it was still morning, so the temperature was relatively low. I really admired their courage. I also saw a lot of people swimming in the Li River yesterday morning, and it was raining at that time. Cross Gui Lake on the bridge, come to the east bank, and start walking back. There is a branch of the lake in front, and it starts to flow eastward. When you reach Zhongshan North Road, a highway bridge crosses the lake and the greenway along the lake is interrupted. When we came to the road above, there was no sidewalk, so we had to cross Gui Lake on the bridge and reach the opposite shore of the lake, but the greenway under the bridge was also blocked. The map shows that Mulon Lake is on the other side of Zhongshan North Road, but it seems inaccessible from here. The mountain next to Muluo Lake is the Diecai Mountain that I just climbed yesterday. When I was at the top of the mountain, I saw the beautiful lake below, but after I went down the mountain, I couldn’t find its entrance. It seems that my fate with Muluo Lake has not yet arrived. Starting from here and walking back, when you pass the peculiarly shaped double-hole bridge, look up and you will see the old man’s head on the top of the mountain. Go back to the west bank from the bridge, and then return to the hotel by the same route. If I have the chance in the future, I will definitely take a complete hike around the four lakes.
