Because you have to cross pastures, herders may charge a small fee. The locations with the most ice shoves on Qinghai Lake vary from year to year and even by time of year, so it's essential to inquire beforehand. Most importantly, there are very few restaurants open during winter, so be sure to bring enough food!! Take proper precautions to stay warm!!
