Hamamatsu Castle🏯

Hamamatsu Castle is best known as the residence of the young Tokugawa Ineyasu, who lived here for 17 years before the unification of Japan after the Battle of Sekigahara and the relocation of the capital to Edo (in modern Tokyo). Many of the castle's successors were promoted to important positions in the shogunate government, and as a result, the castle became known as the "Castle of Progress." Like many castles in Japan, it was destroyed by order of the Meiji government during the Meiji Restoration, but was rebuilt.
