Cangqian is home to two national heritage sites!

Cangqian, originally known as Lingyuan, was established in the second year of the Shaoxing era of the Southern Song Dynasty (1132) when Lin'an Prefecture built a granary for the convenience of the people in the north of the street. In ancient times, the south was considered the front, so it was called Cangqian Street. This area is known as the land of fish and rice and the home of silk. It is a major grain storage area, and the residents of Gexiang Village in Cangqian have a custom of "sheep pot." Yuhang has a long history of making clear water silk floss, with silkworms being domesticated and silk being spun by households as early as the Zhou Dynasty. During the Kaiyuan era of the Tang Dynasty, Yuhang silk floss was listed as a tribute. Cangqian is home to two national heritage sites: the former residence of the master of Chinese studies, Zhang Taiyan, and the Cangqian Granary, which developed the "one symbol, four no standards" for grain storage and is known as the "Four No Granary."
