Hangzhou Xianghu Lake

#Xianghu Lake, a tourist attraction in mainland China, is known as the "sister lake" of West Lake for its beautiful scenery. It is a lake in Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province. Xianghu Lake is also one of the birthplaces of Chinese civilization. The Kuahuqiao cultural site excavated here is a national cultural relic protection unit. The world's earliest canoe was unearthed here, pushing the prehistory of Zhejiang civilization back to 8,000 years ago. The Yuewang City site on the top of Xianghu City Mountain has a history of more than 2,500 years. It was an important military castle where Goujian stationed troops to resist the Wu Kingdom. It witnessed the historical events of "sleeping on firewood and tasting gall" and is the best preserved ancient city wall site to date. Xianghu is the hometown of the great Tang Dynasty poet He Zhizhang. Li Bai, Liu You, Wen Tianxiang, Liu Ji and other celebrities from past dynasties have left immortal poems here. Although Xianghu Lake is the sister lake of West Lake and is also a free scenic spot, the number of tourists cannot be compared with that of West Lake. There are very few foreign tourists who come to Xianghu specifically for sightseeing, and they may even be negligible.
