Haeinsa Temple in Hapcheon, with a thousand years of history

In Korea, there is something called the 'Sambo Temple'. 'Sambo' refers to the three treasures of Buddhism, Buddha, Dharma (scriptures/doctrines), and Sangha (monks). Sambo Temples are temples that correspond to each of these. Bulbosa Temple - Tongdosa Temple in Yangsan, Gyeongnam, where the Buddha's sarira is located, Beobosa Temple - Haeinsa Temple in Hapcheon, Gyeongnam, where the Tripitaka Koreana is stored, Sungbo Temple - Songgwangsa Temple in Suncheon, Jeollanam-do, which produced many outstanding monks. Haeinsa Temple is famous for housing the Tripitaka Koreana. The Tripitaka Koreana was created during the Goryeo Dynasty with the intention of promoting national unity centered around the ideology of Buddhism in response to the large-scale invasion of the Mongolian army, thereby repelling foreign enemies. The Tripitaka Koreana is a UNESCO documentary heritage, and the Janggyeong Panjeon, the building that stores the Tripitaka Koreana, is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The surrounding scenery, including the valley, is quite pretty, so even people who aren't interested in temples or history should stop by.
