[Osaka Prefecture/Hiraoka Park] Top 100 Fragrant Landscapes

Hiraoka Plum Grove is located in part of Hiraoka Park. It has been selected as one of the Ministry of the Environment's "Top 100 Fragrant Landscapes." Unfortunately, when we visited, the plum blossoms were not in bloom! The trees were cut down due to the effects of the virus, and 200 plum trees were planted in March 2021. In addition, Empress Teimei, the mother of Emperor Showa and empress of Emperor Taisho, is said to have visited this plum grove while worshiping at Hiraoka Shrine, which has been in operation for 2,600 years. There is a monument to her. The Kawachi Plain spreads out before us. I was moved by the vast scenery looking down below.
