The Municipal Opera House of Ho Chi Minh City is located in an elegant colonial-style building. This building, designed by the French architect Eugène Ferret, was completed in 1897. Therefore, it is not surprising that the Ho Chi Minh Opera House bears some resemblance to the Petit Palais in Paris, which was built in the same year. Since its opening, the Opera House with an auditorium for 800 seats has become a favorite place for cultural recreation for the French colonists. However, since 1956, the government decided to use the building for the meetings of the Lower House of the National Assembly of Vietnam. Only since 1975, the beautiful building began to be used for its original purpose. To admire the luxurious interiors, you will have to buy a ticket for the performance - there are no tours for tourists in the theater.
