For most people, the word "war" may just be a piece of history, a chapter in a textbook or a scene in a movie. But for some people, war is a bloody childhood, the explosions that took the lives of their family members and the silence and desolation left behind. Walking into the War Remnants Museum, the incessant rumbling of artillery fire during the Vietnam War, the residents' screams of fleeing and wailing everywhere, the distant history seems to be playing out right before your eyes, making this the first stop for many foreign tourists visiting Ho Chi Minh City, where they get to know Vietnam from the Vietnam War. Vietnam ended its 22-year war with the United States in 1975. In order to warn the world about the cruelty and harm of war, it established a "War Remnants Museum" in Ho Chi Minh City to exhibit historical photos, military weapons and war relics from the Vietnam War.
