Hong Kong Lion Rock Hiking Guide: A Secret Urban Place with a Panoramic View of Kowloon

Lion Rock is a spiritual landmark of Hong Kong. Hiking to the top offers a panoramic view of the Kowloon Peninsula. The hike is moderately difficult and even beginners can take in the challenge. It is recommended to start from the entrance of Lion Rock Park and walk up the stone steps of "MacLehose Trail Section 4". It takes about 1.5 hours to reach the top of the mountain. On the way, you will pass a huge rock with the three characters "Lion Rock" engraved on it, which is a classic check-in spot. If you want to experience the wild, you can choose the dirt trail towards Kowloon Tong, but be careful of the slippery road. Items you must bring: 1.5L of water, non-slip sports shoes (be careful after rain), light raincoat (the weather in the mountains is changeable), and a sun hat. There is no supply at the top of the mountain, so it is recommended to bring your own energy bars. You can return the same way after going down the mountain, or continue to Shatin Pass to catch the bus and experience more sections of the MacLehose Trail.
