Hong Kong Railway Museum: A Journey Through Time

The Hong Kong Railway Museum is located at 13 Shung Tak Street, Tai Po Market, New Territories. It is an outdoor museum built on the site of the old Tai Po Market train station, covering an area of 6,500 square meters. Opened in 1985, it offers free admission. Exhibition Highlights The museum boasts a rich collection of exhibits. Inside the old train station building, you'll find an exhibition hall, an old ticket office, and a signal control room. Through artifacts, train models, and historical photographs, the museum showcases the development of Hong Kong's railway system. The outdoor area features narrow-gauge steam locomotives, diesel-electric engines, and historical train cars, such as the No. 60 diesel-electric locomotive (Sir Alexander), which witnessed the thriving railway freight trade between Hong Kong and mainland China. Opening Hours Monday, Wednesday to Sunday, and public holidays: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM; Christmas Eve and Lunar New Year's Eve: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM; Closed on Tuesdays (except public holidays), Lunar New Year's Day, and the second day of Lunar New Year.
