China Hubi Museum

Huzhou Hubi Museum (China Hubi Museum) is a special museum located in Wuxing District, Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province, with the theme of displaying Hubi culture. Huzhou is the birthplace of "Hubi", one of the four treasures of Chinese study, and enjoys the reputation of "the capital of Hubi". In order to inherit and protect this national intangible cultural heritage, the Huzhou Municipal Government officially established the China Hubi Museum in 2001 to systematically display the history, craftsmanship and cultural influence of Hubi. The exhibition hall traces the origin and development of Hubi, from the legend of Meng Tian "improving the writing brush" in the Qin Dynasty to the prosperity of the Hubi industry in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, showing its evolution as the "crown of brushes". Through physical objects, models, images, etc., it analyzes in detail the four characteristics of Hubi: "sharp, neat, round, and strong", and demonstrates more than a hundred traditional processes such as "material selection, water basin, knotting, and assembly", highlighting the inheritance of the spirit of craftsmanship. It displays Hubi and calligraphy and painting works used by famous artists of previous dynasties (such as Zhao Mengfu, Wu Changshuo, etc.), as well as cultural relics such as pen barrel carvings and pen boxes from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, reflecting the status of Hubi in culture and art.
