Take the Ibusuki Tamatebako, visit Ibusuki Onsen, and ride a bicycle to Nagasaki Nose from Yamakawa Station

#JanuaryGoodPlaces2025 Ibusuki, located in the southern part of Kagoshima Prefecture, is a place full of beautiful legends in Japan. The "Ibusuki Tamatebako" is a new sightseeing train designed and manufactured based on local legends. After I finished bathing in Ibusuki (Figure 2: Healthy land hot spring), a kind person took me to Yamakawa Station (Figure 7) to rent an electric bicycle. I rode to Nagasaki Nose (Figures 8-9) and then returned to Ibusuki and then to Kagoshima. The fairytale background of the Ibusuki Tamatebako sightseeing train: "Urashima Taro" is a fairy tale known to all Japanese, young and old. According to legend, Urashima Taro visited the Sea Dragon Palace, and many of the attractions in the fairy tale are located in Ibusuki. Tamatebako means "moonlight treasure box" and is an indispensable theme in the story of Urashima Taro's journey to the Dragon Palace. Along the way, we head south along the scenic Jinjiang Bay, surrounded by mountains and sea, and enjoy the beautiful scenery all the way to Ibusuki. There are beautiful views outside the window, and there are many surprises waiting for you inside the car. The train's exterior design is novel and unique, one white and one black. The sea side of the train is painted white and equipped with seats for sea views, while the mountain side is painted black and equipped with passenger seats and reading seats.
