GURUDONGMAR

Gurudongmar Lake is one of the highest lakes in the world, located in North Sikkim, India, at an altitude of about 17,800 feet (5,430 meters). It is a sacred lake for Hindus, Buddhists, and Sikhs, and is named after Guru Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche), who is believed to have blessed the lake. The lake is known for its breathtaking beauty, surrounded by snow-capped mountains, and remains partially frozen during winter. It is close to the India-China border, so visitors require special permits to visit. The journey to Gurudongmar Lake is challenging but rewarding, with mesmerizing landscapes along the way.
