I rode an electric scooter from the Jidu Temple, making "putt-putt" sounds, and arrived at Yanqing Temple, where only a pagoda remains... Yanqing Temple, originally known as Longtan Temple, now houses a seven-story sarira pagoda. The temple gate and the Four Halls are newly constructed. In front of the temple is Longtan Pool, which now serves as a public park. The leaning pagoda of Yanqing Temple dates back to the Northern Song Dynasty and is not open to the public. Climbing the nearby rocks, you can see the steel and iron supports propping it up... There's also a stone by Longtan Pool inscribed with the four large characters "Where the Oil Vendor Stood." Alongside this is an extensive cultural and educational display about the "Four Jinshi Scholars from One Family" and the "Four Zhuangyuan Scholars from the Chen Family"... The story took place at Longtan Temple in Jiyuan City. Chen Yaozi's father, Chen Shenghua, a Sichuan native, served as the magistrate of Jiyuan County. Chen Yaozi and his two brothers accompanied their father to Jiyuan and studied, practiced horseback riding, and archery at Longtan Temple. There, an oil vendor set down his carrying pole and stood watching them for a long time. He saw Chen Yaozi hit the target eight or nine times out of ten shots but only nodded slightly. Chen Yaozi asked, "Do you also know archery? Is my archery not accurate?" The old man replied, "It's nothing special, just practice makes perfect." Later, Chen Yaozi diligently studied and practiced martial arts, becoming so skilled in archery that he could hit the target every time, even shooting through the small hole of a copper coin from a hundred paces away. At the age of 21, he achieved the highest score in the imperial examination and later became a high-ranking official (Minister of Personnel) in the Song Dynasty, a prominent and renowned figure. Ouyang Xiu, one of the Eight Great Prose Masters of the Tang and Song Dynasties, interviewed Chen Yaozi about his upbringing and visited Jiyuan to investigate, writing the timeless masterpiece "The Oil Vendor," a story that has been passed down through generations.
