Tham Phra Phosat Temple, Saraburi, an ancient site in the middle of a valley

Wat Tham Phra Phosat, Tambon Thap Kwang, Amphoe Kaeng Khoi, Saraburi Province. As for the history of this temple, from what I have researched briefly, it is a Vipassana meditation temple hidden in a valley surrounded by mountains on three sides. The locals call it “Khao Nam Phu”. Inside the temple, there are many beautiful stone caves, both small and large. You can walk in to see their beauty. Inside the cave, there are stalactites, stalagmites, and many historical traces to study. The most interesting cave is “Tham Phra Phosat”, as the temple’s name suggests. Walking up the mountain to reach the entrance of the cave is easy because there are cement steps with handrails all the way. Once inside the cave, you will see a gilded pagoda on a beautiful polished stone base. This area of ​​the cave has the most light. When you look up at the cave wall, which is about 3-5 meters above the ground, you will see bas-relief carvings of people in different poses, which are Dvaravati art patterns from around the 13th-14th Buddhist centuries. It is assumed that these are images of the gods waiting to ask the Buddha to teach them the Dharma to save all living beings in the world. In addition to the carvings on the cave walls, Inside the cave, there are many stalactites and stalagmites of various shapes. Archaeologists have previously assumed that this cave was used as a place for monks and hermits to meditate. Below, don't forget to stop by the waterfall area, which I must say is another unseen place with a very interesting history. This waterfall is called the Chor Por Ror waterfall, with an inscription engraved with the initials Chor Por Ror 115 of King Chulalongkorn, who traveled by horseback on December 20, 1896. There are two carvings. The first is carved on a large tree near the waterfall. This tree has now been cut down. The second is carved on the cliff face above the waterfall.
