Fresh and unworldly Kamikakushi Volcano Village 🌸 Chihiro Sakurajima

This may have been a small mistake during the trip, but it unexpectedly opened up an unforgettable fantasy journey. I had just taken the wrong ferry, but it allowed me to enter the other side of the volcanic island of Sakurajima from Tarumizu Port and experience a completely different scenery. The boat slowly approached the shore, and before our eyes was a dreamlike scene, with green mountains and volcanic smoke intertwined, just like the scene when Chihiro's parents sailed into the countryside shrine, as if we would enter a different world in the next second. Circling Sakurajima from Tarumi, this active volcano shows its temperament from different angles: some are solemn and mysterious, some are rugged and wild, and every turn is like reading a chapter of a fantasy novel. The whole journey was refreshing and isolated, as if time had been stretched out here, with only the sound of the wind, the whispers of the waves and the volcano. When the journey comes to an end, you can return to the mortal world by taking the ferry from Sakurajima Port back to downtown Kagoshima in just 15 minutes. This journey, which is like that of "Spirited Away", silently left memories of volcanoes and the sea in my heart. ⸻ Transportation: • From Kagoshima city to Tarumizu Port: From Kagoshima Chuo Station, take the JR or bus to Kagoshima Port South Pier (550 yen), and then take a high-speed boat (about 40 minutes) or a car ferry (about 1 hour) to Tarumizu Port. • Entering Sakurajima from Tarumizu Port: After going downstairs, take bus number 4 to Sakurajima Port, or take a taxi, drive yourself, or take a local bus to go around the southeast side of Sakurajima and enter the island. It is very beautiful to drive along National Highway 220 and the prefectural road. The scenery along the way is picturesque, so it is recommended to take a slow tour. • Transportation within Sakurajima Island: It is recommended to drive or rent a bicycle to explore, or take the **Sakurajima Sightseeing Bus (Island View Bus**) to go around the main attractions, which takes about 1 hour. • Return to Kagoshima City: It only takes about 15 minutes to take the ferry from Sakurajima Port to Kagoshima Port. The ferry operates 24 hours a day and vehicles can also board the ferry.
