Kaifeng | Yuwangtai Park, Revolution and Ancient Relics.

Across from the Fan Pagoda is the west gate of Yuwangtai Park. It's worth a brief introduction. The park houses ancient relics and the tombs of revolutionary martyrs. The Ancient Terrace for Playing Music, derives its name from the place where Shi Kuang, a musician of the Jin State during the Spring and Autumn Period, played the qin. During the Western Han Dynasty, King Xiao of Liang expanded it into "Liang Garden" (the name of the west gate's archway). After the Yuwang Temple was built in the second year of the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty, it was renamed Yuwangtai. The existing Qing Dynasty archway "Ancient Terrace for Playing Music" remains. Passing through the archway, you'll find the main hall, Yuwang Hall, with the Water Deity Shrine and the Three Sages Shrine on either side. The Tomb of the Eleven Martyrs of the 1911 Revolution: After the Wuchang Uprising, the revolutionaries in Henan, led by Zhang Zhongduan, a member of the Tongmenghui, planned an armed uprising in Kaifeng (December 22). Due to the betrayal of Zhang Guangshun and Jiang Yushan, eleven core members of the uprising were executed in the west and south gates of Kaifeng (December 24, 1911). In 1981, on the 70th anniversary of the 1911 Revolution, the tomb was moved to Yuwangtai Park. In the southern part of the park, there are also the former sites of Henan Agricultural University (Red Building), which unfortunately are not open to the public. Combined with the park's gardens, the park offers quite a rich experience. The park is free and has two entrances: the west gate (near the Fan Pagoda) and the main gate (northeast corner). When visiting the Fan Pagoda, you can also visit the park.
