Kaiyuan Meter-Gauge Railway Station and Lujiang Park

Kaiyuan City is a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Honghe Prefecture in Yunnan Province, located in the southeastern part of Yunnan. Kaiyuan's geographical location is important, and it has been a crucial hub since ancient times. However, it developed slowly until the opening of the Yunnan-Vietnam Railway, which brought a flow of people and goods, leading to its rapid rise. Therefore, Kaiyuan is known as the 'city brought by the train.' Wandering around Kaiyuan, you won't see many historical sites. The French-style station building of the Kaiyuan Meter-Gauge Railway Station has endured a century of weathering and can be considered an old building. Kaiyuan Station is the only second-class station on the Yunnan-Vietnam Railway line, while other stations range from third to fifth class. New developments have their advantages. Unlike many places that build new ancient cities, Kaiyuan has boldly developed Phoenix Ecological Park, Nandong Phoenix Valley Tourist Area, Lujiang Park, and Lingzhi Lake Forest Park, balancing the quality of life for locals with tourism needs. We visited Phoenix Ecological Park and Lujiang Park in Kaiyuan and felt that these are blessings for the locals and good measures to attract outsiders to travel or settle permanently.
