The 'Ray-Ban Temple' in Galyani Vadhana

The 'Ray-Ban Temple' in Galyani Vadhana, also known as 'Black Glasses Temple' or 'Wat Chan', is located in Ban Chan, Galyani Vadhana District, Chiang Mai Province. It is a small temple nestled among mountains and pine forests. The reason it's called 'Ray-Ban Temple' is because the ordination hall has two large openings designed to let sunlight into the hall. These openings resemble eyes, and black glass has been installed, making it look like the hall is wearing sunglasses. Tourists who saw this started calling it 'Ray-Ban Temple' as a playful nickname. Galyani Vadhana District is quite remote, about 150 kilometers from Chiang Mai city center, taking around 3-4 hours to travel.
