This is probably our best answer. #Kamikochi Kamikochi is part of the Chubu Sangaku National Park in Nagano Prefecture and the Azusa River flows through it. Along the way, we can see the grandeur of the Japan Alps in a spectacular way. 🗓️Kamikochi is open from mid-April to mid-November every year. On the day we went, the temperature was around 9-16 degrees Celsius. You can visit as a one-day trip like us or stay overnight. 🏡Accommodations include hotels, ryokans, and campsites. We recommend booking in advance. 🍱Inside, there are shops, restaurants, and souvenir shops. (Restaurants in the Bus Terminal are cheaper than those at Kappa Bridge) Bathrooms are available at various locations (bathrooms have an entrance fee of 100 yen) 🚌Transportation There are several ways to get to Kamikochi, many routes >>Let me review our travel methods, starting with #Matsumoto We stayed in Matsumoto for 1 night first, so that we wouldn't be too tired. From Matsumoto, it took about 1.30 hours. Traveling to the outbound side - Buy a train ticket for the 7.15am departure at JR Matsumoto Station (can be purchased from the vending machine) for 710 yen - Then take the Kamikochi Line (Matsumoto Dentetsu) from platform number 7, ride for about 30 minutes, get off at Shin-Shimashima st. - From Shin-Shimashima Station, take a bus to Kamikochi for about 1 hour. You have to book a bus ticket in advance. The bus fare from Shin-Shimashima to Taisho Pond 3,000¥ - We booked the 8:00am round, arrived at Taisho Pond at 8:54am, then walked to Kappa Bridge. For the return trip, we took the bus from the Bus Terminal near Kappa Bridge. Directions For the return trip We booked online tickets in advance. - Kamikochi Bus Terminal 14:05pm, arrived at Matsumoto st. 15:55pm - Take the bus from Kamikochi Bus Terminal, get off at Shin-Shimashima, then take the train to Matsumoto st. (For the return trip, the ticket includes both bus and train, no need to buy separately for the outbound trip) Bus + train fare from Kamikochi Bus Terminal to Matsumoto st. 3,710¥ 🚶♀️➡️Walking route There are many walking routes to choose from in Kamikochi, from a simple walk to a mountain climb. And of course we chose to walk leisurely 😂 > It was a walk from Taisho Pond to Kappa Bridge, a distance of about 3.7 km. Throughout the walk, we can say with full confidence that it was “very beautiful”. It was beautiful all the way. The walkway along the clear blue Azusa River, surrounded by lush green trees and white snow on the mountaintops. It was the beauty that nature intended to draw.
