It is also a historical railway line in the world during World War II. The Bridge over the River Kwai was built during World War II as part of the Japanese army's railway route from Nong Pla Duk Junction Station, Ban Pong District, Ratchaburi Province to Thanbyuzayat City, Burma. In the construction of this railway route, some places had to build bridges over deep and rapid waters. During World War II, the original Bridge over the River Kwai was damaged and the Thai government repaired it. After the war ended in 1946, it was able to be used as before.
