The Mardi Himal is located in the Annapurna region, which can be seen from the foreground below the peak of Machhapuchhre (6,993 m). Before the official launch of the trail in 2012, it was completely unknown to trekkers. Now it has become a popular and quick trekking spot. The trek follows a ridge trail that offers stunning views of the Dhaulagiri ranges and Annapurna to the west. The trail starts at Kande, a hilltop village. It winds through dense forests of oaks and rhododendrons in the central mountains. As you continue north along the trail, you find yourself close to the mountains and far away from the city life below. After several days, you will cross lush forests and come across wide open spaces that have been designated as grazing areas for the indigenous people.
