[Tour of the Three Eastern Shrines] Katori Shrine

The pilgrimage to the three Eastern shrines is famous as the most powerful power spot in the Kanto region. Katori Shrine is one of them. From Katori Station, you will walk along a peaceful road with a rural landscape. There are not many visitors from the station, so we recommend that you check the map from time to time. As the word "Kashima-dachi" (Kashima standing) suggests, it is common to start from Kashima Shrine, but it is said that there is no problem starting from Katori Shrine. Katori Shrine enshrines Futsunushi-no-Okami, who appears in the Nihon Shoki, and is a "place to make up one's mind." This is where the Muromachi period swordsman Iizasa Choisai rests. Choisai decided to abandon the world and live the way of gods and Buddhas, and while training at Katori Shrine, he realized that what he really wanted to do was in martial arts, and eventually founded the Tenshinshoden Katori Shinto-ryu. I can only hope that many aspirations will take flight from Katori Shrine, a place of determination.
