Taking the train from Bangkok Hua Lamphong station then a rental car to the park was an unforgettable journey.  The scenery along the way was beautiful, plenty of rice paddies and water buffalos. The train was comfortable too! At the park, we paid an entrance of 20THB for locals and drive around. We were really lucky to see deers and a spring on the way down the mountain. The guide told us sometimes wild elephants would cross these roads.

• Take a songthaew / motorcycle taxi Go to Khao Yai checkpoint
2. 🚌 Van / Bus:
• Take a van from Mo Chit / Victory Monument to Pak Chong (takes 3 hours)
• Then take a songthaew / rental car into the park
3. 🚗 Drive yourself:
• Take Mittraphap Road to Pak Chong and enter Khao Yai National Park
• Park entrance fee is 40 baht per person / 50 baht for a car

🌿 Day 1: Climb the mountain - set up a tent - hike

• Enter the park to Lam Takhong tent site (book in advance via the National Park Department website)
• Rent a tent for 150 baht / night or bring your own

今年第四次到泰國，這次去了曼谷周邊的考艾 (Khaoyai)，是巴沖縣一個深受泰國人歡迎的度假勝地。這裡有很多酒店，最後2張圖就是酒店的照片。森林公園適合自駕遊，我們在裡面開了6小時車，沒有遇到什麼野生動物，就是猴子很多。如果打開車窗，猴子會突然跳上來，我們也被嚇得不敢再打開車窗。吃的方面，這裡有不少好吃的餐廳，我們吃了一家Ribmannn，裡面的牛排很不錯，人均300/400泰銖，還有一家米芝蓮泰國菜餐廳Penlaos，也很好吃，人均100泰銖左右，裡面有個老撾菜蔬菜湯我特別喜歡。

This is my fourth trip to Thailand this year, and this time I went to Khaoyai, near Bangkok. It's a popular vacation spot for Thais in Pak Chong District. There are many hotels here; the last two pictures are of the hotel. The national park is suitable for self-driving. We drove for six hours inside and didn't encounter any wild animals, except for many monkeys. If you have the car window open, monkeys will suddenly jump in. We were so scared that we didn't dare to open the windows again. In terms of food, there are many good restaurants here. We ate at Ribmannn, where the steak was very good, costing around 300/400 THB per person. There's also a Michelin-recommended Thai restaurant, Penlaos, which is also very delicious, costing about 100 THB per person. I especially liked the Lao vegetable soup there.

One of the highlights of my visit was the Haew Suwat Waterfall, made famous by the movie The Beach. The sight of water plunging into a serene pool surrounded by dense jungle was mesmerizing. I took a moment to soak in the peaceful atmosphere, the cool spray from the falls providing a refreshing touch.

The park’s hiking trails offered a deeper connection to its natural beauty. Walking through dense rainforests, I marveled at towering trees, tangled vines, and exotic plants. The air was rich with the earthy scent of the forest, and sunlight filtered through the canopy, casting dappled patterns on the ground. Along the way, I spotted playful gibbons swinging through the trees and even caught a glimpse of a majestic hornbill in flight—a true highlight for any wildlife enthusiast.

Khao Yai National Park is the second biggest national park in Thailand, located in the middle and northeast of Thailand and covered in 3-4 provinces. I’ve been there for 3 days and 2 nights while renting camping stuff from the National Park office and it was good quality stuff. 

The national park has a lot of wild animals such as monkeys 🙊 deer 🦌 porcupines, guar and elephants 🐘 and more…etc. The weather is quite nice also it went down to 13 degrees Celsius in the early morning and up until 23 degrees Celsius. I like to walk inside nature way, it has many trees and waterfalls. I do recommend you to travel there and it is not far from Bangkok, it is just 2-3 hours of driving a car from Bangkok and then you can have a good air quality and relaxing time.
