Wat Chang Hai, pay homage to Luang Pho Thuat walking on fresh sea water

#VisitSecondaryCities 🙏Wat Chang Hai Rat Buranaram was built over 300 years ago. It is not known for sure who built it, but there is a legend that Phraya Kaem Dam, the Lord of Sai Buri, wanted to find a location to build a new city for his sister. So he took a risk and prayed and let the elephant travel into the forest with the Lord and his soldiers following him. 🐘One day, the elephant stopped at a certain place and roared three times. Phraya Kaem Dam took it as a good sign and wanted to use that area to build a city. However, his sister did not like it, so Phraya Kaem Dam ordered the construction of a temple instead and named it Wat Chang Hai. 🙏Then he invited a monk, whom the villagers called Than Langka or Somdej Phra Kho or Luang Pho Thuad who stepped on the sea water to stay at the temple. 🛕Inside the temple is a chedi, approximately 59 meters high, with a 5-spire chedi, with the largest chedi in the middle. On top of the chedi is a 7-tiered umbrella made from 100 baht of gold, decorated with rubies. Inside the chedi is a hall enshrining the Buddha's relics. And there is a balcony as a covered temple surrounding the pagoda. 🏰 The temple enshrines a life-size statue of Luang Pu Thuat. Luang Pu Thuat was a monk with great compassion. 🏞 There is a story that when he traveled to Ayutthaya by ship, there was a storm along the way. Food and drinking water fell into the sea. The crew felt very thirsty. Luang Pu Thuat showed his compassion by putting his feet in the sea. It turned out that the water in that area became fresh water and could be drunk. It was a miracle. Since then, his reputation has been known everywhere as "Luang Pu Thuat stepped on the sea water". 🙏 Luang Pu Thuat passed away in Malaysia. His remains were brought back to Wat Chang Hai.
