This place is a "holy land of modern Japanese painting" that attracted artists such as Yokoyama Taikan and guided their artistic activities. It was washed away by the tsunami caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake, but as much of the original as possible was salvaged from the bottom of the sea and reconstructed.
