Korla, Bazhou

Korla City is located in central Xinjiang, at the southern foot of the Tianshan Mountains, on the northeastern edge of the Tarim Basin. It is the capital of the Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture in Xinjiang. Natural Landscapes - Peacock River: The mother river of Korla, with a total length of 127 km, flows through the city, bringing a unique waterscape to the city. Along the river, there are beautiful parks, squares, and buildings, making it a popular place for locals to relax and for tourists to stroll and enjoy the scenery.  - Bosten Lake: One of the largest inland freshwater lakes in China, located about 60 km north of Korla City. The lake has clear water, and there are beautiful beaches and wetlands around it. Water activities such as swimming, boating, and fishing are available.  - Bayinbuluke Grasslands: Located southwest of Korla City, it is the second largest grassland in China. There are flocks of cattle, sheep, horses, and beautiful lakes on the grassland. The famous Nine Bends and Eighteen Turns scenic spot is located here, making it a paradise for photography enthusiasts.  Cultural Landscapes - Tiemen Pass Scenic Area: Located 8 km north of Korla City, it is the exit of the steep canyon upstream of the Peacock River and an important pass into and out of the Tarim Basin. It was the throat of the ancient "Silk Road," and many famous figures throughout history, such as Zhang Qian, Ban Chao, and Cen Shen, have left their footprints here.  - Lop Nur Village: Located southeast of Korla City, it is the settlement of the Lop Nur people. There are ancient Populus euphratica forests, the Tarim River, and the desert. Visitors can experience the life, customs, and cultural traditions of the Lop Nur people.  - Bazhou Museum: Designed with the Loulan Buddhist Pagoda as the main body, it displays the history, culture, and folk customs of the Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, making it a good place to learn about local history.
