3 Days in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia 🚤

#kotakinabalutrip Chill vibes only—woke up naturally every day before heading out! Here’s my easygoing, unforgettable KK trip! Day 1️⃣ – University Mosque & Sunset Views 🕌 University of Sabah Malaysia Woke up around 10am, did my makeup, and headed to Gaya Street for lunch—perfect timing! Then we took a Grab to UMS. The driver stopped at the entrance for us to get the entrance ticket 🎟️ and a visitor map. You can walk around, but we opted for the sightseeing tram (RM25/pax) since it was super hot! The driver was SO nice—smiling the whole way, stopping at every scenic spot, even warned us about strong sun and picked up a fallen umbrella we didn’t notice! Huge shoutout to him. 🍽️ ZING Restaurant A lovely seaside sunset-view restaurant. The prime seats need a reservation, but even without one, we still got a great view of the golden sunset. Must try: Creamy Mussels – absolutely delicious! Day 2️⃣ – Island Hopping Adventure 🏝️ Bought our island-hopping tickets the day before—picked 2 islands + 2 water activities. Don’t be shy to bargain hard! We got 2 activities for RM100 per person quite easily… probably could’ve gone even lower! Tips: • Bring a change of clothes – you’ll most likely get soaked! • If you don’t want to fall into the water during parasailing, just tell them beforehand. • Banana Boat = underestimated chaos! If one person decides to fall off, you’re all going down. Let go ASAP when you fall! I didn’t, hit my fingers, and ended up with bruises. (But you’ll be safe with a life vest!) • Diving is also available even near the city islands, though the water clarity is better at far-off islands. • Watch out for lizards roaming on the islands! Evening: Back to Gaya Street for dinner! Discovered an amazing milk tea from the night market Note: Gaya Street Night Market only opens on Fridays & Saturdays—plan accordingly! Day 3️⃣ – Slow Morning & Souvenir Hunting We planned to go diving at a farther island, but it was way too hot and we didn’t bring a personal snorkel mouthpiece (locals share, so it’s better to bring your own). So instead, we just slept in, chilled at the hotel pool, and strolled around the city in the afternoon to shop for souvenirs. Must-buy: • Beryl’s chocolate – especially the red-pack one! So good! • Had Bak Kut Teh for lunch – clean and mild herbal taste, with chili on the side for a kick. Loved it! And to top it all off… we even caught a double rainbow that day! Magical end to a lovely trip 🌈
