Sultan Abdul Samad Building - KL, Malaysia

Opposite Merdeka Square and the Royal Selangor Club is the building of Sultan Abdul Samad, one of the oldest in the Malaysian capital. It was erected at the end of the 19th century according to the project of English architects. The building housed the offices of the British colonial administration. The building received its modern name in 1974 in memory of Abdul Samad. In the second half of the 19th century, he was the ruling sultan in the state of Selangor, on whose territory the modern capital of Malaysia is located. The two-storey building with elegant arcades was built in the Indo-Saracenic style. Its recognizable features are the 41-meter Big Ben-style tower and three gleaming copper-clad onion domes. The architectural monument traditionally serves as a spectacular backdrop for celebrations, parades in honor of the National Day, and New Year celebrations. Departments of the Ministry of Culture are located within the walls of the palace today. Address: Jalan Raja, Kuala Lumpur City Center, 50050 #bucketlistreboot #malaysia
