🌸 As the sakura season approaches, Kyoto reminds us that it is not a theme park! Keep in mind to respect and share places online that are near residential areas. You are not doing anyone a favor online by intruding and sharing someone else's backyard. There are many public open spaces (parks, shrines, temples, etc.) in Kyoto to visit for sakura, and there is no need for "secret spots". Let's do our part to prevent more bans and rules from being enforced in Kyoto so that others can also enjoy this city in the future. Additionally, the use of wagasa (Japanese traditional umbrellas) at Kyoto's shrines and temples has seen a surprising increase in bans due to many tourists using them for unauthorized photo shoots and disturbing other visitors. If you want to use it, be in an open space far from people and respect the rules of each facility. Do not speak to or stop maiko and geiko on the streets.
