I had to find a place to stay near Kyoto Station and wait until check-in time, but I was wondering if there was a free place to rest.. and I found this place. The building is very grand from afar, and it catches your eye right away.. The pictures are really pretty, and it's amazing that all of this is wood.. You have to take off your shoes when you go inside. (They give you a plastic bag to store your shoes in.) There is a place to store your carrier or luggage next to it, and this is also free. There is a Buddhist statue inside, and there is a very, very large tatami-covered space. There are people bowing, but most of them are sitting and resting comfortably. You can take pictures freely, but since it's a real temple, please refrain from taking pictures when praying. There is no air conditioning here, so it is a bit hot if you go during the day, but there is a gallery next to it, and the air conditioning is really good there. There are chairs in the gallery, so you can cool off a bit and relax and heal yourself at the temple.
