The Union Estate in Seychelles 🇸🇨

The large Union Estate, south of the bustling village of Anse-Reunion on the west coast, is located on a former plantation. It is not possible to go to La Digue and not go to this location, even if there is a charge (€10/pers.) The extensive coconut grove indicates that coconuts played an important role in the island's economy in the past, especially in copra oil production. It's also worth watching the corral with giant turtles and the beautiful colonial state-owned house. The park is filled with palm trees and vegetation and also has a vanilla plantation, art gallery, giant tortoise enclosure and food and beverage outlets. Whoever is interested in the history of the island, of past and actual farming should spend some time at the Estate. Also there is an enormous granite monolith to admire. It is the largest contiguous granite rock on earth and is said to be over 700 million years old. At its feet a giant tortoise pen, just as at the Botanical Gardens in Victoria or on Curieuse Island, where at least the creatures are free to roam around. From the back of the garden you can go to Union Beach and even to the magnificent beach in Anse Surs d'Argent.
