Mahawan Temple

History: Wat Mahawan (Mahawanaram) is the royal temple of Queen Chamadevi. The pagoda of Wat Mahawan enshrines Phra Rod Lamphun, one of the five oldest Benjaphakee amulets. It is believed that Phra Rod is sacred and magical in terms of escaping danger and disaster, and is charming, popular, and brings wealth and invulnerability. Anyone who comes to pay homage to Phra Rod will be free from all dangers. This ancient temple is over 1,300 years old and was built during the reign of Queen Chamadevi. It contains a reclining Buddha image brought from Lavo. The famous amulet collection is Phra Rod Mahawan, which is considered a famous mold for Phra Rod. Located on Chamadevi Road, Mueang Lamphun District, this is an ancient temple built during the reign of Queen Chamadevi. The northern boundary is a public road, the southern boundary is a public road and Chamadevi Road, the eastern boundary is a public road and the city moat for water supply, and the western boundary is a public road.
