Lausanne. A quintessential Swiss town

Lausanne, Switzerland Nothing exciting happened in 2020, right? Two months before things went pop, I headed out to the city of Lausanne which is situated on the banks of Lake Geneva in Switzerland. This was my second day trip flying into Switzerland and this trip is situated slap bang in the middle of my Swiss Trilogy. The idea of trilogies excites me - after all, I am a statistics nerd, and to make statistics out of travelling - what more could you want! 😉 That aside, Lausanne is a vibrant city. But have you ever combined travel with a sporting event? When I booked this day trip to Lausanne, I immediately started searching what there was to do in Lausanne in January 2020. Little did I know that the Winter Youth Olympic Games were being held in the city right when I had booked my trip! After a quick search on the official website for the Winter Youth Olympics, I had tickets in my bag for the Ice Hockey finals. And the best thing - they were free! I’ve never watched Ice Hockey before. But the event was brilliant! I was captivated and it added an extra element to my trip that I hadn’t considered or enjoyed before. Next time you take a holiday or a trip abroad, check to see what events are on in the local area.
