Bipeng Valley. A place where the scenery captivates me.

Every time I revisit a familiar place, I find my enthusiasm for work waning. Perhaps it's because I'm immersed in nature, experiencing its charm. When I first set foot on this western Sichuan land in winter, even though I had anticipated the cold and the possibility of altitude sickness, its beauty was irresistible. I chose a scenic spot relatively close to Chengdu: Bipeng Valley. The scenery there was breathtaking, making me feel refreshed and free from all worries. To prevent altitude sickness, I prepared medication and supplies in advance, including Rhodiola and oxygen tanks. Although the oxygen tank took up some space, it did provide relief when I felt slightly lightheaded, making me much more comfortable. I also packed some sweets, such as glucose and chocolate, which can be soothing when you're not feeling well. Additionally, the wind is very strong, so I brought windproof clothing, hats, and scarves. Don't be misled by the plastic shoe covers sold near the scenic area. A pair of waterproof and non-slip shoes is the most reliable choice. Swallow Rock (Yanzi Yan) is the most worthwhile spot to visit, but it's also the highest altitude point. If you choose to explore from top to bottom, you might experience less altitude sickness. Sunscreen is a must, otherwise, you might experience skin discomfort on your way back. The visitor center provides hot water, and you can bring your own snacks or enjoy hot meals there. Remember to bring a thermos; a sip of hot water is truly comforting in the cold weather. Joining a group tour can indeed be more convenient. However, five hours might not be enough time to explore, considering that over two hours are spent on the sightseeing bus. If you can't drive there yourself, a group tour is still a good option.
