Lianhua Mountain was formerly known as "Xikongtong". As early as the early Ming Dynasty, it was designated as a famous Buddhist and Taoist mountain. It is said that Guangchengzi often traveled to Xikongtong. The main peak of Lianhua Mountain is 3,578 meters above sea level. It has the danger of Huashan, the strangeness of Huangshan, the seclusion of Qingcheng, and the beauty of Emei, and has beautiful natural scenery. Lianhua Mountain is a remnant of the Xiqing Mountains, with a total area of ​​188,000 acres. It is sandwiched between the Yangsha River and the Yemu River in the north and south, like a colorful ribbon. The entire mountain is made up of exposed limestone with scale-like faults, sharp peaks shaped like lotus petals, and a flat and round top in the middle, shaped like a lotus core. It is named because the mountain resembles a blooming nine-petal lotus. The climate here is complex and the biomes are diverse. The existing forest area is more than 1,200 hectares, with about 90 families, 346 genera and more than 745 species of plants; 45 species of mammals, 133 species of birds, 2 species of reptiles, 4 species of amphibians, 5 species of fish, and more than 560 species of insects. The national first and second class protected animals here include leopards, lynxes, musk deer, jackals, and otters; birds include the spotted-tailed chicken, dark snowcock, blood pheasant, golden pheasant, blue pheasant, etc.; and insects include the two-tailed brown swallowtail butterfly. The scenic spot won the title of "Gansu Public Aviation Cup" in 2013 Gansu's Top Ten Most Popular Tourist Attractions, and won the title of "Colorful Gansu" Top Ten Tourist Attractions in 2013 jointly sponsored by the Office of the Gansu Provincial Spiritual Civilization Construction Steering Committee, the Gansu Provincial Tourism Bureau, and the Gansu Daily.
