A Nanny-Level Guide to a Two-Day Trip to Liyang, Jiangsu, Near Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu

Enjoy a relaxing two-day, one-night trip to Liyang, Jiangsu, with a laid-back pace and plenty of delicious food. Day 1️⃣ Old Liyang Chinese Restaurant - Liyang Museum - Bao'en Temple - Fangsuo Commune - Yue Restaurant 👁️‍🗨️Liyang Museum Free admission and no reservation required. While the interior isn't large, the exterior is impressive. The popular photo spot is outside the museum. Take the stairs to the right of the main entrance to see the spaceship-like structure. 👁️‍🗨️Bao'en Temple Free admission, no reservation required, and free parking. This temple has a Southeast Asian style, with exquisite roofing. It feels like strolling through Chiang Mai, very quiet and perfect for photos. 👁️‍🗨️Fangsuo Commune A transparent book tower that lights up at night. It's recommended to visit in the evening. The sloping ground and wooden tower create a perfect atmosphere for reading and relaxation. Besides the book tower, there are various bridges nearby, ideal for a leisurely walk. Day 2️⃣ Nanshan Bamboo Sea Scenic Area Scenic Area Entrance - Small Train - Longevity Plaza - Ground Cable Car - Panda House - Ground Cable Car - Longevity Plaza - Hike Downhill - Bird Paradise. This route is perfect for a full day of fun with kids. Remember to bring snacks! ❗️There are many ticket packages with hidden costs. I'll write a detailed post about this later. You can buy tickets in advance on the "Liyang Tourism" mini-program. 🍔Food ✔️Old Liyang Chinese Restaurant. Average price: CNY 90 Must-try dishes: Casserole Fish Head, Steamed Black Rice, White Celery, and Liyang Zhagan (a local specialty made with duck offal). The black rice is served with sugar, the casserole fish head soup is rich, and the Zhagan is especially delicious. It consists of duck intestines wrapped around duck gizzard, deboned duck feet, tofu, and other ingredients, served with a special sauce. The white celery has a peculiar taste that might not suit everyone. ✔️Yue Restaurant. Average price: CNY 95 A popular local restaurant serving private home-style cuisine. The dishes are prepared with care by the owner's family, who are all locals. The food is delicious and served quickly. 🍩Snacks ✔️Aunt Guo's Moon Cake These are huge, filled with various ingredients, and served with bean curd sheets and sauce. One is more than enough. ✔️Xiaojuan Steamed Rice Considering the generally low prices in Liyang, the CNY 12 price tag feels a bit high. It's not as delicious as some people say, quite ordinary. ✔️Aunt Mei's Stinky Tofu I couldn't get enough of it in Yixing, so I had to have more in Liyang. It's truly delicious. ✔️Country Style Little Chicken This is located in Daibu Town, a small town on the way to Nanshan Bamboo Sea. Don't let its size fool you; there's often a queue.
