Sichuan Hanjiang Ancient City - Gleaning from the Sea of History

1️⃣Leaving Feixianguan and heading north, following the footsteps of the Red Army, it takes less than 20 kilometers to reach Lushan County. This is a fertile plain of about 1000 square kilometers in the Hengduan Mountains, where the continuous high mountains on the west side trap the moisture from the easterly winds, bringing rain in clear skies, creating a lush and verdant landscape. 2️⃣Lushan County is located on the southwestern frontier of Shu Prefecture, not very famous, yet it is the last territory of the ancient Shu kingdom and the place with the most Han dynasty relics in the country. During the Spring and Autumn period, a branch of the Qiang people of the ancient Shu kingdom, the Qingyi Qiang, migrated to Lushan and Baoxing, forming the Qingyi Qiang kingdom, with the river that runs through the plain named Qingyi River. In 316 BC, during the Warring States period of Central China, the ancient Shu kingdom was in turmoil, and King Huiwen of Qin took the opportunity to enter Sichuan, establishing Shu and Ba prefectures. A few years later, Qingyi County was established, laying the foundation for the later unification of China. During the Later Han and Three Kingdoms period, this was the fief of Jiang Wei, the Grand General of Shu Han, who built Jiangcheng. The Han Jiang story has been passed down for a thousand years to this day, and the ancient city of Hanjiang, through trials and tribulations, is still preserved in the old town area of Lushan County. 3️⃣Strolling through the ancient city, the 'Han Jianghou Ci Archway' built during the Ming Jiajing period is mottled with colorful paintings, and the breath of history hits you in the face. On the right, the Jinhua Opera Stage was built during the Qing Daoguang years, and on the left, the Pingxiang Tower was built during the Northern Song Dynasty. Behind the Pingxiang Tower, the Jiang Gong Temple was built during the Ming Jiajing period, and a section of the Han dynasty city wall is still preserved to this day. This is the only ancient city in the country that solely commemorates Jiang Wei, and every year during the Rapeseed Flower Festival, the people of Lushan use 'flower lanterns' to worship the loyal souls. 4️⃣The sky gently sprinkles light rain again, and fragments of history flicker uncertainly in the changing light.
