Chengzi Ancient Village, a village and a city

Chengzi Village is located 25 km south of Luxi County, Honghe Prefecture, Yunnan Province. The village was built more than 300 years ago. It is built on a mountain and is a contiguous area of Yi and Han-style earth houses (tuzhang houses). The houses are connected by wooden ladders, and the platforms of each household are interconnected. Entering one house allows you to access the entire village. From a distance, the village is layered and resembles the Potala Palace. Chengzi Village is both a village and a city. The village has 204 people, and the city has Jiangxi Street, General's Mansion, Sister Wall, and the expensive yamen of the Tusi Prefecture. At the foot of the mountain, there is a towering city wall, a wide moat outside the city wall, and a three-hole bridge (originally a suspension bridge) leading into the city. There are artillery and gun positions on the east gate tower, which were originally guarded by soldiers from the Tusi Prefecture. This group of earth houses has withstood many wars and invasions over the past 300 years but has never been breached. The most interesting thing for tourists in Chengzi Village is to walk on the rooftops and enjoy the view, or to wander in the fields and look up at the village.
