Formally the city main Post Office, telegraph and telephone headquarters, it is now occupied by Madrid City Council, serving as the city hall.
It is located at the Square of Cibeles, 1, 28014 Madrid, the nearest metro station is Banco de Espana ( Line 2 ).
The main facade facing the centre of the square and the Buenavista Palace. It has two pentagonal towers on the sides and an octagonal tower in the centre, 70 meters high.
The Cibeles Fountain had been standing in the square since 1782, one of the city's most famous landmarks.
El Mirador is located in the central tower on the 8 floor, from here visitors can see the roofs of the building and a wide view of the city. It was declared a site of Cultural Interest with a Monument category in 1993.
