#VisitChiangRai Among the popular tea plantations in Chiang Rai Province that people like to visit, Tea Plantation 101, which is the first large Oolong tea plantation in Doi Mae Salong, is worth a visit. This place seriously grows many types of tea and is open for people to try and buy different types of tea. You can also visit the tea plantation terraces in a beautiful and shady natural atmosphere. It is suitable for those who want to experience tea tasting and get to know different types of tea in depth. 🏕 Atmosphere The scenery here is truly beautiful. Looking around, you can see lush tea plantations surrounded by the Doi Mae Salong mountain range. It is truly worth seeing. On top, there is a large building for you to stop by to taste tea and buy the plantation's products, which include various types of tea and various equipment used for making tea. Next to it is a restaurant with a balcony where you can walk around and enjoy the surrounding scenery conveniently. 🌱 Tea Tasting For those who are interested in seriously tasting tea in the middle of the tea plantation, you will probably like the tea tasting atmosphere here. In the tea tasting room, there is a large counter with seats on each side for you to taste tea comfortably. There are staffs who demonstrate how to make tea and recommend various types of tea from the farm for you to try and compare. If you want to know anything, you can ask them up close. If you like any of them, you can order them to take home. When I had the chance to visit, I had to buy some. The tea that is popularly grown around Doi Mae Salong is Jin Xuan and Yuan Zi Oolong, which received knowledge from the Taiwan Tea Research Station, imported by the former 93rd Division, the Chinese Nationalist Kuomintang Army. From what I saw, in addition to the prominent Oolong tea, this place also sells red tea and matcha green tea. The ones I tried are as follows: ➡️ Oolong Tea with Soft Stem or Oolong No. 17 - This is the top Oolong variety here. It is a semi-fermented tea that produces golden yellow tea with a moderately strong flavor, but it is outstanding for its soft and pleasant aroma and is more soothing to the throat than other types of tea. I was informed that this type of tea grown in Thailand once won first place in the World Tea Competition. ➡️ Oolong No. 12 - This is the Jin Xuan Oolong variety. The taste is more intense than No. 17, but in terms of throat moisture, it is still a bit weaker. It has won 2nd place in the World Tea Competition. ➡️ Red Tea – It is a semi-fermented tea like the first two types of oolong tea, but it has been reacted with oxygen more during fermentation, resulting in a tea color that is quite red, with a stronger taste and a slightly astringent taste. The Thai iced tea with milk that we are familiar with is red tea. ➡️ Matcha Green Tea – It comes in the form of green tea powder, which is suitable for making iced green tea or making desserts.
