Buathong Waterfall, Seven-Colored Fountain, Mae Taeng District, Chiang Mai Province

Buathong Waterfall National Park, Seven-Colored Fountain (formerly a forest park) is located in Mae Taeng District, Chiang Mai Province. It is a waterfall that foreigners like to climb and walk through the rocks to the waterfall. The waterfall itself is not very big, with 4 levels and a distance of about 250 meters. The highlight is that it is a hard limestone waterfall covered with calcium carbonate. There are not many sharp rocks. The water flows all year round and is very clear. The clarity of the water is comparable to that of a swimming pool. About 250 meters from Buathong Waterfall is the Seven-Colored Fountain, the source of Buathong Waterfall. The water in the pond is blue and very clear. You can see all the way to the bottom.

Why is it called Sticky Waterfall at Buathong Waterfall?

Namtok Bua Tong-Nam Phu Chet Si National Park

Arriving at the Bua Thong 'sticky' Waterfalls, the first thing you notice is that they are quite steep, multi-tiered cascades rather than a huge singular waterfall. They are called ''the sticky waterfalls'' because they are made of limestone and mineral deposits. It gives you a good grip to walk up or down the cascades. There are many ropes to hold on to. I spent two hours pretending I was a super hero and it really enjoyable. It was probably more enjoyable as it was the wet season and because the water flow was strong. In the dry season the water flow tends to be less. To cool off from Chiang Mai's heat, this is a nice day trip. Go as early as possible and avoid the weekends in order to avoid the crowds. Definitely worth doing.
