| Pacification Commissioner's Office. ❥Menglian Pacification Commissioner's Office, commonly known as Menglian Tusi Mansion, is located in Nayun Ancient Town, Pu'er City, outside the west gate of Menglian County. The Pacification Commissioner's Office is situated at the highest point of the upper city, with the upper and middle city Buddhist temples also standing tall nearby. It is considered an extremely sacred place in the hearts of Southeast Asians and the Dai people. ❥Menglian Pacification Commissioner's Office, integrating Dai and Han architectural features, is the only ancient architectural complex in Yunnan that is a combination of Dai and Han constructions. The Pacification Commissioner's Office was established in the fourth year of the Yongle era of the Ming Dynasty (1406), and it has lasted for more than 500 years through the Ming, Qing Dynasties to the Republic of China period. It was the yamen of the Dai Tusi Dao family, and the hereditary Tusi rule it represented is one of the 18 Tusi yamen in the Yunnan border ethnic regions that has been relatively well-preserved, with significant historical and artistic value. ❥Menglian Pacification Commissioner's Office, in Dai language called 'Hehan', means 'golden palace', and the Tusi 'Zhao Hehan' refers to the 'King of the Golden Hall'. The Menglian Pacification Commissioner's Office was once burned down during the Qing Dynasty and was rebuilt from 1878 to 1919. The entire architectural complex is wooden, with its dougong brackets and flying eaves being Han architectural forms, while the stilted buildings and halls are in the style of Dai architecture. The main building, the council hall, is a three-tiered eave hip-and-gable roof stilted house, and it is listed as a first batch of provincial-level cultural relics protection units. ❥The entire Pacification Commissioner's Office consists of the entrance hall, council hall, main hall, east and west wing rooms, granary, kitchen, back hall, and other ancillary buildings. There is a more than 2-meter-high surrounding wall, with 4 side gates. Alongside the 13-step stone path are 4 tall and dense palm trees, and 8 golden pillars shine brilliantly in the sunlight, dazzling to the eyes.
