We hurried back to the Israeli port city of Eilat from the Israel-Jordan border crossing early in the morning, went to the B&B to pick up the car that had been parked for free for several days, and drove directly to Mitzpe Ramon. The entire journey was 149 km and the road conditions were very good. As you get closer to Ramon, you enter the vast Negev Desert. The terrain is similar to that of driving on the Pamir Plateau. There are very few cars coming. It feels like walking on the edge of a lonely planet. The air is filled with smoke and it looks like a mirage, which is very spectacular. As you approach the Ramon Sinkhole, the road is winding and steep. The black asphalt road is laid on the yellow-brown desert basin, winding up the mountain in an S shape, which looks a bit like the Panlong Ancient Road. When you see the Ramon Crater under the blue sky of the Middle East, you will feel that Israel, such a small country, has no end in sight. The hotel we stayed in, Beresheet Hotel, was built on the commanding heights of the Ramon Crater Scenic Area. All the rooms faced the canyon. Antelopes roamed freely in the scenic area and often walked around the hotel proudly. Because it is relatively niche and close to the southern tip of Israel, public transportation is not very convenient, and the hotel guests are basically locals who come for vacation. There are seven swimming pools, saunas, SPa, yoga, movies, night tours, etc. You can stay two more nights to experience it. You can also do real rock climbing on the cliffs, and the hotel activities are also fully arranged.
