Mobara Temple, where the city of Mobara was named after.

Mobara-ji Temple is a famous Nichiren sect temple, and is said to have started as the sect's first Lotus Sutra training center in 1253, the year Nichiren declared the founding of the sect. Later it was called Jozaizan Myoko-ji Temple. In November 1591, Tokugawa Ieyasu donated 30 koku of temple land to the temple, and a copy of the red seal letter read "Mobara-ji Temple in Hanyu County," so it was renamed Mobara-ji Temple after the Meiji period. There are also documents related to Kuon-ji Temple on Mount Minobu that were moved from Minobu, such as the "Kinkoushu." A large, unfinished bronze statue of Nichiren, the founder, is temporarily placed next to the parking lot.
