The 📍Arc de Triomphe is one of Paris' most iconic monuments, standing at the western end of the Champs-Élysées in the center of Place Charles de Gaulle. Commissioned by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1806 to honor the victories of the French army, the arch was completed in 1836 under King Louis-Philippe. Take the RATP to Charles de Gaulle-Étoile station, and the arc is right above. Sculptures: Four massive reliefs on the pillars depict key moments from the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. Interior & Viewing Deck (buy tickets to enter): - Inside, a spiral staircase (or elevator) leads to a museum showcasing the Arc’s history. - At the top, a panoramic viewing terrace offers breathtaking views of Paris, with landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, Louvre, and Sacré-Cœur visible. Tomb of the Unknown Soldier: - Beneath the arch lies the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, added in 1921 to honor fallen soldiers of World War I. - An eternal flame burns here, rekindled every evening in a solemn ceremony.
